Whether you are a couple, with friends or with a family with teenagers, this experience is for those who wish to live a unique experience in Sri Lanka.

ON THE AGENDA

The adventure begins in the early morning in Hali Ela, a small town an hour’s drive from Ella. This is the starting point of the hike of a few hours that will delight all good walkers. Keep your eyes open, the route is strewn with wonders in the middle of tropical vegetation.
You will be accompanied by an experienced guide throughout this unique experience in Sri Lanka. Together you will cross varied landscapes between rice fields and forests, villages with curious and warm-hearted people: a journey that will take you to preserved places of tourism.

On the route, breaks are planned to let you enjoy the breathtaking view and to regain some strength. After a picnic lunch in the middle of nature, you will take to the road again in search of new discoveries.

Arrival is scheduled for the afternoon in the heart of the remote village of Medipokuna. It is here that you will stop for the night, in the temple of the monastery. An unusual accommodation to end this day full of curiosity! At the temple, you will certainly be able to meet the monk of the village. You will have the choice to familiarize yourself with Buddhist philosophy or to initiate yourself gently to meditation. It is up to you to choose the program.

As the monk has important responsibilities, he may be absent during your visit. In this case, you can take advantage of your free time to discover the surroundings, mainly bordered by vegetable gardens, the main resources of the villagers. The walk through the terraced crops is pleasant and exotic.

Dinner time has come! You will join the house of a family of villagers, certainly very happy to welcome you at their table. You will be received in all simplicity. Your hosts will have prepared delicious rice and curry, a typical Sri Lankan dish, with very few spices especially for you.

At bedtime, you can settle down in the schoolroom of the monastery, where children are taught Buddhism every Sunday. Mats and fine mattresses will be installed on the floor, freshly washed pillows and sheets will be lent to you for this night in unusual accommodation. Toilets, showers and washbasins are common to all travellers passing through the village and are available near this room prepared for the evening. It will certainly not be the most comfortable night you will spend in Sri Lanka, but it will be the one that will leave you with the most memories!

The next morning, after a good breakfast composed of fresh fruits, a cup of tea, milk rice (rice and coconut milk) and rotti, you will leave in a good mood for a 1 to 3 hours walk according to your desires, accompanied by your guide.  You will then meet your driver for another unique experience in Sri Lanka.
